I love my heroes. They do all the stuff my hard core guildies are too good to do anymore. Although I have pugged some missions in Factions recently with little trouble.

maybe theyre just in case your friends r busy doing something else. it also adds bit more strategy. say you need a bonder for something you run. well your monk friend cant bond all day so you have a hero for it. the concept seems simple enough.

My guild is small, so we can't make a full team without heroes. Usually everyone brings a healer along to keep us alive so we can concentrate on the more entertaining aspects of combat, like the hacking and the slashing and the burning of monsters.
My guild is composed of RL friends who play; there are only three of us (mains ele, monk and necro, which work just fine) - occasionally we ask another couple of friends along, but by and large timezone differences make it really hard, since two of us are GMT+8, the other GMT+10, and the two friends live in - well, the opposite side of the world. Five heroes fills everything up nicely so we can go out and hack and slash and set things on fire with the best of 'em.
